Hunter
Education
Hunting season is
just around the corner. First time hunters, over the age of 10
and born after 1/1/1975, must successfully complete a hunter
education course before being able to purchase a hunting
license in the state of Idaho.
DHI Director Gary
Gillespie is certified in Hunter Education Instruction. He
will be teaching class through September. Gary teaches his
class at the IF&G Hunter Education Center in Garden City.
His classes start on the following dates: June 8, July 11,
August 8 and Sept 5. Classes are taught on Tuesday and
Thursday nights. The Range and field exercise that is required
is taught on the third Saturday at the black Creek IH&G
Range. Classes’ start at 6:00 PM and the range begins
at 8:00 AM.
Home study and
Internet courses are available. The home study course requires
that a workbook be completed before the range and field
exercises. The Internet course requires completion of the
Internet course and then the Range and Field exercise. All
courses require the student to successfully complete the
IF&G examination at the completion of the course before
the completion certification is given.
